Scouting for elk with my bro.
Preparing to descend into the canyon. Only .8 miles to check trail cam. That's not too bad of a hike. |
Are we there yet? |
Well, 1,100 vertical feet, 1.5 hours, a few whoas onto my butt, it's gotta be 100 degrees and we still have .7 miles to go. I know it's gonna be worth it. I know it is. |
Lots of deadfall. At least it's flat. But the bugs, thousands of bugs, from teeny gnats to horse flies. On the bright side, not a mosquito in sight and you can't tell in the photos but it is raining butterflies. |
It's like I said, lots of butterflies. |

Checking the trail cam.

Hmm. Cool! But not what we were hoping for and not an elk's best friend. Thus the name Elk-hell. |
Well, 5 hrs. later, we're back at the top ready for the ride back and at least someone got a prize. |
Forest fires burning in the distance. |

Taking a break on the way back. My bro. and his best buddy.

Smokey sunset and the end of a great adventure. |
