Exploring the mystery and natural beauty of Utah's west desert

My son and I spent the weekend exploring the Amasa recreation area in Utah's west desert. We had a great time. The desert holds a natural beauty that not all see or enjoy. Finding an old mining community is only a plus that adds mystery to the adventure as one ponders what it must have been like in days of yore.

Circa 1900 compressor in Amasa Valley. This must weigh a couple tons; wonder how they hauled it up here?
Old generator motor in Amasa Valley.

Beautiful area above Amasa Valley, probably about 8,000 feet.
At about 9,000 feet looking over the Tule Valley.

Just south of Notch Pass at about 9,000 feet. It's hard to see but the jet stream is casting a shadow.
