My son and I spent the weekend exploring the Amasa recreation area in Utah's west desert. We had a great time. The desert holds a natural beauty that not all see or enjoy. Finding an old mining community is only a plus that adds mystery to the adventure as one ponders what it must have been like in days of yore.
Circa 1900 compressor in Amasa Valley. This must weigh a couple tons; wonder how they hauled it up here? |
Old generator motor in Amasa Valley. |
Beautiful area above Amasa Valley, probably about 8,000 feet. |
At about 9,000 feet looking over the Tule Valley. |
Just south of Notch Pass at about 9,000 feet. It's hard to see but the jet stream is casting a shadow. |
